A2 Envelopes
A guide for learning about how to find great black envelopes and other envelopes
How big are A2 envelopes and what are they used for? The dimensions of an A2 envelope are 4 3/8 inches x 5 ¾ inches. This makes them the ideal size for invitations and greetings cards. You can buy A2 envelopes in all colors and types, and they are routinely sold in post offices and stationery stores worldwide.
If the envelope is a statement about what is inside it, just like our clothes give off a deeper message about us, A2 envelopes stand for small, friendly messages. When we imagine receiving a letter from a close friend, we visualize a small A2 envelope in a bright color, rather than plain white. And we imagine the stationery inside as being pretty, colorful, and friendly. Bills on the other hand usually come in long, white, rather mean-looking envelopes, while important announcements are often inside beige, formal looking envelopes.
A2 envelopes come in a variety of exciting colors, including salmon pink, cobalt blue, bright red, shocking pink, green, yellow, ivory, and even black. And that’s without mentioning the more conventional colors of white, cream, and beige. All of these colors can convey different messages. Perhaps you want to send a get well card to a friend in hospital. So you choose a nice card and you send it in a green A2 envelope. Green symbolizes freshness, renewal, and health. Getting married? You might want to print your invitations on cream paper and send them in cream envelopes, symbolizing the pale, pure colors associated with a wedding. If on the other hand, you want to make a more dramatic statement about your wedding, you may choose black envelopes, decorated with silver or gold pen. If you want to send a valentine to the one you love, you could put it inside a red envelope, reflecting the strength of your passion and admiration.
Another use for A2 envelopes is as an SAE – a self-addressed envelope. If you have sent a letter asking for a specific reply with an SAE, an A2 envelope is ideal because you can just put it inside a large envelope and send it off.
If you need to print out a whole batch of envelopes for mailing invitations to your upcoming weddisng or family party, you may find it easier to run them through your printer. There are A2 envelopes that are compatible with either inkjet or laser printers.
If you want to make your invitations a little more exciting, you don’t need to print them on paper that is the same color as the A2 envelopes. You can mix and match them to get either a more subdued effect or to make them more striking. Use a third color for the actual calligraphy, and you have created your own bombastic stationery effect.
The uses of A2 envelopes are certainly very diverse and can reflect a variety of purposes. However you end up using them, make sure you buy quality ones that won’t have issues in mail transit. You always want to make sure your mail is safe and secure.
