Envelope Printers

A guide for learning about how to find great black envelopes and other envelopes

One of the most boring and tedious parts of an office job is that of doing a mass mailing. How many of us remember when we were children having to help Mom with her work as a volunteer on a charitable committee by folding letters, addressing envelopes, stuffing them, and sticking on the stamps, and then taking the letters to the post office? Today, some of the annoying tedium (and the need to rally your kids) can be taken out of making a mailing by using envelope printers.

Envelope printers are – precisely that. This kind of specialty printer will take away the whole arduous business of either writing out loads of addresses by hand or sticking tons of mailing labels onto envelopes. An envelope printer can print off as many as one thousand envelopes in just one hour, saving much time, effort, and energy. Based on ink-jet technology, envelope printers make the envelopes look neat and well-addressed. Although most of them only print in black, there are some colored models on the market as well, if you want to vary your company’s look.

Envelope printers, which are mostly for office or institutional use, can be very expensive. The lower end of the range models cost a few thousand dollars, while the more up-market versions are worth tens of thousands of dollars. For this reason, many offices will rent them rather than buying them. Nonetheless, working on the old adage that time is money, we see that the cost is justified simply by the amount of time and human resources that it saves.

By printing the address, bar code, and return address on the envelope, this can look a lot more professional than if you had stuck mailing labels on instead. If you run an office or business, you should seriously consider doing this for all of your correspondence to clients, customers and vendors. This is definitely another plus for using envelope printers.

When looking into buying or renting envelope printers, you should make your decision very carefully as it could be very costly and is also so instrumental to the presentation and image of your business. First of all, get good recommendations about the vendor you are thinking of using and the company that manufactures the envelope printer that you are interested in. Secondly, and especially if you are renting the envelope printer as opposed to buying it, is there someone on hand to answer any questions you may have? And third of all (and maybe most importantly), make sure that your mailing software is compatible with the envelope printer that you want. It would be a disaster if you spent thousands of dollars and then discovered that you couldn’t use the equipment anyway.

With all of this in mind, buy or hire your envelope printer and say goodbye to long, boring mailings. You can now put your feet up and take another coffee break while watching the machine do a lot of the work. The age of envelope printers has arrived.
